Apr 26, 2024

Cumberland Council has released its latest planning applications, revealing a range of proposed developments across Allerdale, Carlisle, Eden, and the Lake District.

From housing developments to telecommunications installations and tree removals, an array of diverse requests have been submitted.

In Allerdale, a request has been received for an amendment to an approved application, a new housing development in Aspatria, Wigton.

The plans for 38 dwellings on land adjacent to Station Road have requested a variation in condition 2 to amend the original plans.

In terms of telecommunications infrastructure, several proposals for medium telecommunications poles have been put forward in various locations.

These installations aim to enhance connectivity and improve communication networks in areas such as Little Bampton, Wigton, and Kirkbampton, Carlisle.

Another application is for the demolition and extension of Innovia Films Ltd in Wigton.

The existing Plant 1 building will have part of it demolished to raise the roof and make way for a 56sqm extension.

This development is intended to accommodate a new coating machine.

Plans proposed for Carlisle include crown thinning and tree removal, the erection of replacement dwellings and detached garages, and the change of use from a bingo club to a mixed entertainment/competitive socialising venue in Botchergate.

A range of applications have been submitted for Eden, including tree maintenance and removal, extensions to existing buildings, and the conversion of a former nursery into holiday letting units in Hackthorpe, Penrith.

A number of applications have been received in the Lake District for various developments, such as the installation of solar panels, the conversion of barns into holiday accommodations in Cleator, and the creation of storage buildings and ponds.

One application requests the siting of food and beverage hut and seating at a farm in Broughton-in-Furness.

Another requests the use of a shepherd's hut as holiday accomodation in Uldale.
